Update: Missing/Endangered Woman

Update from St. Peters Police Department

St. Peters, Mo, April 24, 2015– In reference to the Silver Alert issued on Wednesday April 22, the St. Peters Police Department is still looking for Mary Buckley, who has not been seen or heard from for over a week.  

On Tuesday April 21, 2015 our department was asked to assist St. Charles Police Department by responding to the 700 block of Sugar Glen Drive and contact Mary Buckley to notify her that her son, Gary Buckley, was found deceased in St. Charles City in an apparent suicide.  While trying to make the notification to Mary, our officers discovered she was missing from her residence. Due to Mary's medical ailments and limited mobility, it was unusual for her to be away from her residence. Her son was her only caregiver and he was living at her residence just prior to his death. It was at this point our department launched a missing/endangered person’s investigation. (Refer Press Release issued April 22, 2015). 

The St. Peters Criminal investigations Division searched a section of the Missouri River in St. Charles for the 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe due to this being the location Gary’s body was discovered.  During our search on the riverfront, we received information from a train conductor who indicated he saw a silver SUV, matching the description of Mary's vehicle in a wooded area in Bridgeton, off the railroad tracks, just south of Highway 370.  

The vehicle was confirmed to belong to Mary Buckley, though we have found no signs of her whereabouts. Our department believes Mary did not put the vehicle at this location and that it was left by her son, Gary just prior to his death.

 St. Peters Detectives are continuing to follow-up on leads, but is asking for further assistance from the public that could lead us to Mary's location or any other pertinent information.  Mary is unable to survive without oxygen.   She is also in a very frail state and is not mobile.  We believe that if Mary is still living that she would be in a health care facility.
